Sentient

I got the idea for this painting after coming across the phrase “Homo Sentient” (Latin for “feeling human”) It made me wonder; in a world built around screens and machines, has being “Homo Sapien” (wise human) lost its meaning?

Throughout history, we’ve reached incredible milestones, from creating language to exploring the stars. But in our pursuit of progress, we’ve also drifted away from presence, into glowing screens and artificial worlds.

This piece reflects the quiet, often unnoticed trade we make every day; giving up pieces of our humanness in exchange for convenience. At its core, the painting asks a timeless question: what does it really mean to be human?
